Here at the Religious Education Department at Ysgol Llanhari we are keen to encourage pupils to think independently in order to develop an understanding of life and of the wider world. Pupils are given opportunities to engage with fundamental key questions and issues that relate to their individual needs and that meet the demands of the modern world so that they are motivated to challenge their own and others’ thinking in Wales, the UK and globally. The department develops opportunities to seek purpose in life, develop positive attitudes to themselves and others: reflect upon life experiences, develop knowledge and understanding of the nature of religion, and to acquire lifelong skills for engaging, exploring, expressing, analysing, forming a reasoned conclusion and evaluation. The curriculum consists of various themes that arise from religion, philosophy and ethics: such as The Journey of Life in Year 8, and Crime and Punishment in Year 9.
