Ysgol Llanhari is a school which provides education for pupils from the age of 3 to 19 through the medium of Welsh.  Your child can join the school from the Nursery class or at the age of 11 from one of our local partner primary schools.

Welsh is the language of teaching and of socialising within the school and our community is founded upon respect and pride in our language, our heritage and our Welsh identity.

The Primary Department was established in September 2012, transforming Ysgol Gyfun Llanhari, a well established Welsh medium comprehensive school into an ‘‘All Through School’ ; one school for 3 – 19 year olds on one campus, with one Governing Body and one Leadership Team and staff.

A Welsh medium day care provision for babies and children from the age of 2 is also situated on our school site through Cylch Meithrin Camau Cyntaf: First Steps Nursery with whom we also work as a school to provide wraparound pre nursery provision for our youngest pupils before they join Ysgol Llanhari full time in the term following their 4th birthday. This provides an excellent opportunity to ensure continuity and progression for our pupils throughout the learning phases in an atmosphere that reflects the family unit.

Pupils and staff are given the opportunity to work together across the age sectors in a safe, organized and co-ordinated manner.   We work very closely with our feeder primary schools Ysgol Gynradd Dolau, Ysgol Gynradd Gymunedol Gymraeg Llantrisant and Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Tonyrefail in order to ensure a seamless and effective transition for those pupils who join Ysgol Llanhari at the age of 11.

Rhondda Cynon Taff Local Education Authority is responsible for admission arrangements to the school.  Please contact them on www.rctcbc.gov.uk/schooladmissions for an admission pack.
