The school is consistently developing its blended learning approaches across the 3-19 age range.

The need to offer blended learning experiences for all pupils developed during the pandemic period in 2020 and we now consider blended learning to be an additional tool for educators. This policy sets out how we are developing the use of technology to enhance learning and how this should be combined with the traditional pedagogical approaches outlined in the school’s teaching and learning policy.

Blended learning is defined below:

  • Face to face learning in class.
  • Online learning: online activities via HWB platform, recorded lessons, flip lessons, live streaming.
  • Use of textbooks and resources to work from home.

Using the Hwb platform https://hwb.gov.wales/

Since September 2020, all pupils have been using Hwb as a platform for Microsoft Teams and Google Classrooms. In the Foundation Phase, Google Classroom is used to set tasks and share information with parents / carers. They are expected to complete set tasks directly or upload other evidence e.g. a picture or video. KS2-KS5 teachers use Teams / Google Classrooms to set homework and assessment tasks and offer feedback electronically to pupils. It is emphasised that formative assessment is most effective in reporting back on work in assignments.
